Golf Tournament - Belize Jungle Dome Scramble - Feb 22nd 2014

A fabulous day was had by all at the Roaring River Golf Course, for the 3rd Annual Belize Jungle Dome 2 Person Scramble. It was a really fun day with all the players enjoying the light-hearted atmosphere and fun in the sun.

We would like to welcome our new members, John Wongsam, Jan Bartak, Oliver Guthoff, Greta Gonzalez, Peter Flisock, George Paoletti, Mike Nielson, Cheryl Dupree, Kerrie Rerrie and Peter Allen, already bringing the BAGA membership to 38 players.

Also thks to all who donated prizes. Too many too mention :-)

We raised $715 to be donated towards local football teams in the Belmopan area.

Belize Golf Tournament Results - Feb 1st 2014

The 2014 Belize Golf Season is in full swing with the second tournament of the year at the Roaring River Golf Course and we like to welcome the new members who joined on Saturday.

Next tournament will be on Feb 22nd and is the 3rd Annual Belize Jungle Dome Scramble. This is a 2 person scramble with trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams and booby prize for the last team. You can pick your own partner or we will pair you with someone on the day. Please consider donating a few hole prizes. The Jungle Dome scramble carries points towards the yearly Victor Ludorum player of the year.

Please note that members need to step up and assist at tournaments. We have tournament fees to collect, hole prizes to put out so please do not be shy in volunteering.

New Golf Season in Belize - January 18th 2014

Welcome to the 2014 Golf Season in Belize.

We look forward to another fantastic golf season and hope to grow on our 44 strong membership. If you are out of the country and still wish to support the Belize Amateur Golf Association, your membership would be valued. There has been a change in the Belize Amateur Golf Association Board, with Geoff Hatto-Hembling taking over as Treasurer and Mickey Thornton as the Handicaps Chairman. Sam Mathias is the Tournament Director, with John Sansone (Vice President) and Steve Hack (President) continuing in their existing posts. Andy Hunt has stepped down from his posts on the Board.

Belize Golf Tournaments - 2013 Yearly Awards

The 2013 Golf Season in Belize closed at the last tournament of the year. The Roaring River Xmas Tournament. It has been a wonderful year for our 44 members.

Thks to Paul Martin and the Roaring River Golf Course staff for hosting our players and handing out so many xmas gifts.

Community Work :

The Belize Amateur Golf Association was delighted to give $600.00 to the Roaring River Grace Kennedy Softball Team. Ray Garbutt Sr received the donation on behalf of the team. This adds to the years previous donations of $2,000.00 to the Gobie Challenge Foundation, $1,000.00 to Children of Hope Foundation and $1,000.00 School Scholarship to a deserving student.

2013 Player of the Year Awards :

The inaugural Victor Ludorum Player of the Year Sponsored by Roaring River Golf Course was won by Steve Hack. This award combines all the tournaments of the year giving us a final points winner.

Andy Hunt was Player of the Year for "Without Handicap" category, claiming his 3rd title in 4 years.

Steve Hack was also the winner of the "With Handicap" Player of the Year category, giving us our 3rd different champion in 3 years.

The "Senior" Player of the Year was Ray Garbutt Sr, breaking the 2 year reign of John Sansone.

Our Ladies Player of the Year was Nini Hawthorne and Junior Champion was Lucas Hunt.

Clubman of the Year was presented to Ray Garbutt Sr, recognizing his support, character and tournament attendance record for the year. 

Most Improved Player went to Josef Vostry. Josef's HDCP started the year at 16 and he is now playing off 11.

Belize Golf Tournaments - Dec 7th 2013

The final monthly golf tournament took place on Dec 7th for the Belize Amateur Golf Association. After 12 months, the 44 members have finished their tournament season. Our yearly  awards ceremony will be held after next weeks Dec 14th Roaring River Xmas Invitational Tournament. All invited.

Thks to Peter Allen, Chico Towers and Bill Mckenzie and Michel Ardoullie for the prizes this month.

The BAGA has had an active year with community work and is delighted that Denisha Francisco from Stann Creek Ecumanical High School was able to visit the players on Saturday. Denisha, who was accompanied by Amanda Brown (Belmopan Womens Group) was the recipient of our school scholarship and eloquently spoke to the members after the tournament to thank them for the sponsorship. We wish her the best of luck with her studies. Denisha is in the photo above, with Amanda Brown, Steve Hack, Andy Hunt, John Sansone and Ray Garbutt Sr.

Belize Golf Tournaments - Presidents Invitational - Oct 5th 2013

2013 Presidents Invitational - Belize Golf

Belize Golf Tournaments - September 14th 2013

Thanks to all that participated Saturday, September 14th, in the 9th Monthly tournament of the year. The rainy season gave us a break for 24 hours and the course played excellently. 

As we move to the finale of the season we have lots of players jostling for position for the yearly honours. With 5 Tournaments remaining, there are 60 points available in the Victor Ludorum, 36 points for the Gross and 36 points for the Net, so no-one is out of the running yet.


Welcome to our 2 new members Rick Gonzalez and Ken Dupree, bringing our membership up to 40.

Mexicana Master II - August 15th-18th 2013 - Golf Tournament Results

Hello Folks.

The Gran Bahia Tulum and Riviera Maya Golf Course hosted the Mexicana Masters II golf tournamnent on August 15th-18th.

A great time was had by all, helped by spectacular weather, lots of golf, bountiful buffets, sandy beaches, sports, yoga, dancing and mucho tequilla.

As for the Golf, some shone for a few moments, some faltered at the death, some made miracle comebacks and some sandbagged their way to the finish. In the end only a few points separated the field and the all important Sunday Scramble was the decisive factor.

Belize Golf Tournaments - August 3rd 2013

Thanks to all that participated Saturday in the 8th Monthly tournament of the year. The course was in outstanding condition and the putts were running true and fast. Thks to Bill Mckenzie and John (honestly, I am a 16 handicap) Sansone for the hole prizes.
