Belize Golf Tournament Results - November 20th 2010

Thanks to all members that turned up and braved the rains that poured down on us all day. Rivers and ponds covered the fairways and greens but some great scores were posted under difficult conditions.

NOTES

1. Our Christmas Tournament will be held on December 4th, 2010 @ 8:30 a.m. sharp. All members are asked to be present at least 30 min. prior to tee time for group placement and review of rules and regulations.
2. Our Match Play Tournament is scheduled for December 12th, 2010 @ 8:30 a.m. sharp. Matches will be posted up on the Association's web page by Friday, November 26th.
3. If anyone has suggestions our comments, please forward to the Association's e-mail address as these will be included in the agenda for our annual general meeting and elections of officers.
4. The B.A.G.A. will have it's annual general meeting and elections of officers on December 4th, 2010 immediately following the Christmas Tournament.

We look forward for early confimation from all members for both tournaments scheduled in December, as it is very important that matches be posted on our webpage.

November 20th 2010 - BAGA Golf Tournament

November Tournament:

Format: Flag/Tombstone/Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing is another name for a Flags tournament. Each golfer begins the round with an allotment of strokes - usually his or her full handicap plus the par of the course being played - and plays until those strokes are used up. The golfer who advances farthest around the course before using up his allotment of strokes is the winner. This determines our winner in the Net (w/handicap category).

Although some players might not complete all 18 holes, it is required to do so in order to record their gross score. This will determine the winner in the Gross (w/o handicap category).

December Tournament:

Format: The format for our Christmas Tournament is medal (stroke) play. Date is tentatively set for December 4th. Our match play tournament is also tentatively set for Sunday December 12th.

Belize Amateur Golf Association By-Laws

Article I. Name

Section 1. The name of the organization shall be known as the Belize Amateur Golf Association.

 Article II. Purpose

Section 1. To afford clean, healthy fun and recreation. To promote golf in Belize.

Section 2. We will have twelve (12) monthly tournaments. We will also host the annual Belize Amateur Golf Open.

Article III. Membership

Section 1. There will be a membership fee every year.

Article IV. Board of Directors.

Section 1. The Board of Directors shall consist of 5 members and 3 trustees: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Handicap Chairman. The trustees shall be named by the Board of Directors. Term of Office shall be for one (1) year.

Article V. Meetings

Section 1. We will have meetings in June and December. At the meeting in December we will elect new officers. All meetings will be held in accordance with “Roberts’ Rules”.

Section 2. Emergency meetings may be called at any time by the President.

Article VI. Financial Statement

Section 1. The Treasurer shall prepare a financial statement to be presented at the December meeting.

Article VII. Rules and Regulations

Section 1. Handicaps will be developed by USGA standards. The handicap chairman has the right to adjust handicaps as deemed necessary. The purpose of handicapping each player is to provide as nearly as possible, that participants will be evenly matched as to playing ability.

Section 2. The BAGA will administer the sport of golf in Belize, in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status as established by The R&A.

Article VIII. Amendments

Section 1. Amendments to these by-laws may be presented in written form to members at the December Annual Meeting.
