3rd Annual 2013 Corkers Golf World Cup

The 2013 Corkers World Cup Golf Tournament took place on June 1st at a re-hydrated Roaring River Golf Course, with the fairways and putting surfaces glowing a succulent shade of green after the recent rains.

All bodes well for the RF&G Belize Amateur Open on June 22nd/23rd. Don't forget to sign up before the tournament. We will not be accepting entries on the day of the competition. Deadline to sign up Thursday 20th June. See flyer below.

Incredibly, after 6 hours of team play the tournament came down to the final pairing of Alan Graham (Internationals Captain) and Tim Heath (Americas Vice Captain). The match was halved meaning the teams scored 11.5 points each.

Belizean Americas retain the trophy for 2013 as they only needed to draw to hold the trophy.

Congratulations to the Belizean Americas who have now won the trophy for 3 consecutive years. A valiant effort by the Belizean International team, who matched the Americas team shot for shot but were unable to win the final 0.5 point to grab the trophy.

Other awards :

Team Hero award : Steve Maestre who won all 3 matches for a combined +11 holes victory. Other  notables include Tony Zabaneh and Peter Allen who won all 3 of their matches.

Best Loser Award : Lucas Hunt who lost by a combined -11 holes. Lucas our youngest player also deserves a mention for playing on after being struck on the collar bone by a ball at the start of his final match. Other notables include......we will leave that for your conjecture.

Best Dressed Player : One player shone from the moment he arrived. Looking like an extra from "The Mask" his Yellow Zoot Suit brought a smile to everyones face. Congrats to CHICO TOWERS.


All the Belizean Americas Team players received 3 Points for the Victor Ludorum Player of the Year, plus every play received points based on their performance on the tournament. Yearly Tables below :

Corkers World Cup - Saturday, June 1st 2013

Dear BAGA Members and Friends,

Saturday, June 1st is the Corkers World Cup. See poster below.

Team Captains Alan Graham and John Sansone and will be making the draw for the first matches on Thursday morning and sending out the pairings/tee times on Thursday afternoon, so please confirm by Wednesday night to guarantee a place in the tournament.

Tournament starts at 8.00am.
  • Belizean Internationals need to win to wrestle the trophy from the Belizean Americas. The Americas team only need a draw to retain the trophy and add to their 2011 and 2012 victories.
  • Each Player on the Winning Team Receives Corkers Polo T-Shirt and Trophy. Plus Trophy for Team Hero (Player who wins the most holes for his team) and 5th Wheel (Player who loses the most holes for his team). 
  •  Best Dressed Player. 
  • Worse Dressed Player.

Belize Golf Tournaments - April 13th 2013

Thanks to all that participated Saturday.  The race for the Victor Ludorum Player of the Year has hotted up with many players making big moves on Saturday. The Net and Gross Yearly tables have seen 2 new leaders. Scroll down this post to view the tables.

Belize 2013 Match Play

Welcome to the BAGA Match Play Tournament. 16 Players will battle out this years competition.

FORMAT :

·        Double Elimination Draw. Once you have lost 2 matches you will be eliminated from the Tournament.
·        Handicap Match Play over 18 holes. For example if an 18 handicapper plays a 10 handicapper (8 strokes difference), the 18 handicapper will receive 1 stroke on each of the 8 hardest holes.
·        IMPORTANT : PUT YOUR HOLE SCORES ON THE SCORECARD SO THE COMMITTEE CAN CHECK THEM. CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THE SCORES ENTERED AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO REPLAY THE MATCH.
·        If a match is tied after 18 holes, then play continues from Hole 1 until one player wins a hole.
·        Players will use their Current Handicap as displayed in the Club House at the time of each individual match.
·        If a player arranges a game with an opponent and does not turn up he/she forfeits the match.
·        If you have offered 3 dates to play and your opponent still has not agreed a date contact the BAGA committee. A player that makes no effort to arrange his game will be Disqualified.
·        BAGA committee will have the final decision on player’s disputes.
·        Green Fee of $50 per player/match to be paid to Roaring River Golf Course.

·  Play each player in your Division once. Email Scores to bagabze@gmail.com or call Andy on 651 9929 or Mickey on 665 3352 with your results.
·  Use your current handicaps at the the time of each match. i.e the handicap showing in the clubhouse when you play.
·  If a match is tied after 18 holes, then play continues until one player wins a hole.
·  If a player arranges a game with an opponent and does not turn up he/she forfeits the match, with 2 points being awarded to the winner
·  2 Points for a win and a bonus point if you win your match by the end of the 15th Hole.
·  At the end of the season the Top 2 from each Division will proceed to knockout stage plus 2 wild cards for the next highest point scorers.
·  Players that drop out will forfeit their remaining games but the results from their played matches will stand.
·  If 2 players are tied on points at end of year the player that won against his opponent will be deemed highest in the division.
·  If players from different divisions are tied on points for the 2 wildcard spots a playoff will be required.
·  Pairings for Knockout stage for the Final 8 players will be decided by the highest point scorer of the year vs lowest point scorer of the year, next highest vs next lowest etc, etc.
·  It is players responsibility to arrange their matches.
